El duelo entre «Cardenales» y «Aseguradores» finalizó 1-2

Equidad y Santafe disputaron un encuentro bastante movido. Inicialmente Equidad tomo la pelota y propuso el juego, De Alba le abrió la salida al equipo y comenzaron a llegar con persistencia al arco de Santafe. Luego de varias llegadas al arco de Zapata, los dirigidos por Suárez lograron convertir, Pacheco fue el encargado de adelantar a los «Aseguradores» a tan solo dos minutos del primer tiempo.Santafe no dio espera y empezó a reaccionar generando peligro constante en el arco de Bonilla. Equidad empezó a perder el control del partido y le entregó la pelota a Santafe.

«Los Cardenales» se adueñaron del juego y marcaron el ritmo hasta que en una jugada peligrosa en el terreno de Equidad, el árbitro pitó una mano de Nájera y cobró un penal en favor de Santafe. Morelo fue el encargado de cobrar y anotó el gol que empataba el marcador. Así las cosas Equidad se vio distraído y no pudo levantarse después de la anotación de Santafe. Más adelante, el árbitro le anuló un gol a Perlaza por fuera de juego y pocos minutos después finalizó la primera parte.

La Equidad y Santafe mostraron un buen futbol en el Estadio Metropolitano de Techo, Equidad intento reponerse y Santafe mantuvo sus lineas organizadas. Equidad intento en más de una ocasión liquidar el encuentro, sin embargo Santafe siguió siendo superior y poco a poco fue dejando sin ideas al Club dirigido por Suárez. Más adelante Buitrago marco el gol que pondría fin a la ilusión de Equidad por clasificar a la siguiente ronda de la Copa Águila. El encuentro Finalizó 1-2 a favor de Santafe y «Los Cardenales» clasificaron dejando una imagen positiva del trabajo de Gregorio Peréz.
