Desde ya buscan el sustituto para Ramón Diaz luego de la decepcionante Copa América.

La Selección Paraguaya de fútbol tuvo una participación mediocre en lo que fue la Copa América Centenario, demostrando un fútbol bastante pobre y sin que realmente vieran que tenían posibilidad alguna de clasificar. Es por ello que Ramón Díaz presentó su renuncia de la selección guaraní, dejando un balance negativo de 20 partidos disputados, con 3 ganados, 9 empatados y 8 perdidos, es decir, una efectividad sólo del 30%.

Ante esta situación, los directivos de la Federación Paraguaya de Fútbol ya se ven en la necesidad de encontrar un DT que le de rumbo al equipo, que no está parado de la mejor manera en las eliminatorias a Rusia 2018, y hacerlo rápido, ya que la próxima fecha de eliminatorias es en poco más de dos meses, en el mes de septiembre. Y ese hombre parecería ser Reinaldo Rueda, el actual técnico de Nacional.

Rueda ya sabe que es dirigir selecciones nacionales. ha dirigido a las selecciones de Colombia, Honduras y Ecuador con resultados aceptables: Con Colombia se quedó a un gol de ir a Alemania 2006, llevó a Honduras a Sudafrica 2010 y a Ecuador rumbo a Brasil 2014. El problema es que ahora se encuentra totalmente comprometido en el proyecto de Atlético Nacional. Un proyecto que incluye la participación en semifinales de Copa Libertadores, la Liga Águila-I 2016 y la Copa Suramericana.

Este proyecto, unido a un plantel amplio con la calidad y capacidad de conquistar todos estos títulos hacen realmente complicado que Reinaldo vaya a abandonar el cuadro verdolaga a mitad de camino. Según el diario ABC de Paraguay, el hecho de la disputa de la semifinal de Libertadores contra Sao Paulo no sería impedimento para que él llegue a dirigir a la albirroja, pero que aparte de Paraguay son varias las selecciones y clubes que quisieran tenerlo dirigiendo en su país, recientemente también se supo que rechazó una propuesta para dirigir al club Cruzeiro de Brasil.
