Yesid Aponzá, al servicio del equipo de la Equidad, falleció en la madrugada del domingo 2 de octubre, tras protagonizar un accidente en la vía Guachené, Cauca.

Según varias versiones, el jugador se movilizaba en su automóvil y se salió de la vía, específicamente en la vereda El Guabal. Aponzá de 24 años, fue encontrado en grave estado, y según el informe del accidente, este fue trasladado al hospital de Guachené en donde dejó de existir debido a las múltiples lesiones que presentaba .

El propio equipo asegurador confirmó lo sucedido por medio de un comunicado en donde lamentaba la muerte de Yesid Aponzá, que en su transcurso como futbolista profesional, hizo parte de clubes como Independiente Medellín, América de Cali y Boyacá Chicó.
