En una entrevista del programa «Al Primer Toque» de la emisora española «Onda Cero», Faustino lanzó fuertes críticas hacia el equipo «merengue» por como se ha manejado el tema  James Rodríguez. Las declaraciones causaron furor en la prensa española y colombiana, lo que abre otro capítulo más en un caso que no parece tener un final cercano. Esto fue lo que dijo «El Tino»:

– «Hay una campaña grande en contra de James en los medios de España, eso es claro». 

– «Me parece que a James le ha faltado un poquito más de respeto de parte de Zidane».

– “A James deberían darle más oportunidades. El mismo Gareth Bale, el primer año, no fue ni la mitad de lo que era en el Tottenham”.

Incierta es la situación de James en el equipo aún ya jugada la primera fecha de La Liga, incluso con Zidane diciendo que se iba a quedar en la «Casa Blanca». En las últimas horas surgieron rumores que lo vinculan al Liverpool FC inglés, los cuales se unen a los ya mencionados anteriormente por parte de la Juventus.
