Santiago Montoya es el cuarto refuerzo del campeón de Colombia.

Tras la llegada de Wuilker Fariñez, Roberto Ovelar y Cesar Carrillo; Santiago Montoya se convierte en el cuarto hombre en unirse al plantel campeón e intenta cubrir las bajas de Maxi Nuñez, Alexis Zapata, Jacobo Kouffaty y Duvier Riascos quien no estaran para el 2018

Montoya se ha entrenado con el equipo azul de la capital desde el 10 de enero de 2018 día en el cual millonarios comenzó su preparación para el primer semestre de este año, así mismo realizó pruebas médicas junto los demás jugadores recién llegados; pero su presentación oficial se ha manejado con cautela para no cometer errores en las redes oficiales del club

‘El Mago’ como es conocido, había  manifestado su interés de llegar al equipo ‘embajador’ en reiteradas oportunidades. Así lo confirmo en una entrevista para AS-Colombia:

“Lógico que me llamaría la atención. Millonarios tiene una gran historia y sabemos que están esperando ese momento para volver a ser lo que siempre fueron, un equipo que siempre ganó y se acostumbró a los títulos. Me interesaría mucho pero lo manejo con tranquilidad”

Santiago Montoya, nació el 15 de Septiembre de 1991 (26 años). Se inició en las divisiones menores de Envigado,  luego hizo parte de las divisiones menores de Nacional para luego ir directo a Argentina donde jugó con All Boys, allí debutó oficialmente en 2012 frente a San Martín de San Juan. Con el ‘Blanquinegro’ jugó 26 partidos y marcó dos tantos (uno por copa argentina y otro por Liga ante Tigre). En la temporada 2013, Vasco da Gama compró a Montoya. Con el equipo ‘Almirante’ jugó tres temporadas, 51 partidos en total entre Copa y Liga y anotó 4 goles. En la temporada 2015/16, Montoya llegaría a Europa, especificamente a Portugal; en el primer equipo de Vitoria Guimaraes jugó solo 9 partidos, con el filial en la Liga de Honra, en total sumó 11 partidos y anotó tres goles.

Montoya, llegó al deportes Tolima en el año 2016, con el conjunto ‘Pijao’ jugó 51 partidos y anotó 12 goles. En 2017 jugó 29 partidos.
En el ultimo semestre de 2017, el ‘mago’ jugó 19 partidos, sumó 1412 minutos jugados, fue titular en 15 partidos. Montoya intentó 697 pases en la Liga Aguila-II de los cuales concretó 557 buenos, teniendo casi el 80% de rendimiento. Santiago Montoya, también hizo su debut con la Selección Colombia en el juego amistoso ante Brasil en enero de 2017.
