Los dirigidos por Jorge Luis Bernal necesitan los tres puntos para tener oportunidades para ingresar a los cuartos de final de la Liga Águila 2017-I, cuando reciban a un Medellín que viajará con una nómina alterna.

La decimonovena y penúltima jornada de la Liga Águila inicia y la lucha por ingresar al grupo de los ocho está más apasionante que nunca. Tres son los equipos ya clasificados a la siguiente fase del torneo (Atlético Nacional, Independiente Medellín y Deportivo Pasto) y las 5 plazas restantes están siendo disputadas por 9 equipos, los cuales lucharán en estas últimas dos jornadas para lograr obtener el paso a los cuartos de final de la liga.

Alianza Petrolera se ubica en la novena posición del torneo con 26 puntos y es uno de los equipos que más complicada tiene la clasificación, pues se enfrenta a dos de los mejores equipos del país en las últimas dos fechas, Independiente Medellín e Independiente Santa Fe. Los dirigidos por Jorge Luis Bernal solo necesitan de una victoria para clasificarse.

Por parte de Medellín, 36 puntos lo ubican en la segunda posición y por consiguiente, le aseguran la clasificación a la siguiente fase del torneo. Por esto, su entrenador Luis Zubeldía decidió afrontar el próximo encuentro frente a Alianza Petrolera con un equipo casi alterno, pues el próximo jueves 25 de Mayo, definen su continuidad en la Copa Libertadores al visitar a River Plate en el estadio Monumental en Buenos Aires, Argentina; motivo por el cual debe dar descanso a su once titular para afrontar este importante encuentro.

Los únicos jugadores que hacen parte del onceno titular del ‘poderoso’ y que disputarán el partido por liga frente a Alianza, serán Christian Marrugo y Didier Moreno ya que serán bajas para el encuentro por Copa Libertadores, tras acumular las tres amarillas reglamentarias; el resto del equipo que Zubeldía convocó para la decimonovena jornada de la Liga Águila serán jugadores alternos.

Un encuentro apasionante el que viviremos el día sábado 20 de Mayo a las 6:00 pm en el estadio Daniel Villa Zapata, protagonizado por un equipo en busca de los tres puntos para incluirse en los ocho clasificados a los cuartos de final del torneo; y por otra parte, un club sin necesidad alguna por clasificarse, pero con la mentalidad de obtener la victoria de visita. Este encuentro será transmitido por RCN desde las 5:40 pm.
