Los boyacenses se impusieron ante un  Santa Fe que jugó con 10 hombres la mayoría de partido.

Santa Fe cayó en el Estadio la independencia de Tunja ante un Patriotas que supo aprovechar el hombre de más que tuvo gran parte del juego, pues al minuto 10 saldría expulsado el uruguayo Horacio Salaberry, por un manotazo a un jugador del equipo rival.

En la primera parte a pesar de que los cardenales estuvieron con 10 hombres, Santa Fe supo hacer frente a ello y logró que Patriotas no llegara con peligro a la portería de «Rufay» Zapata, los remates a larga distancia marcaron la pauta en la primera mitad.

En la segunda parte el Santa Fe de la primera mitad desapareció, Patriotas logró acomodarse mejor en la cancha, por lo que al minuto 54 llegaría la primera anotación del mejor jugador de la cancha, Sebastián Villota, que con un remate a colocar con su pierna derecha logró hacer uno de los mejores goles de la fecha. El equipo de Tunja pegaría por segunda vez al minuto 62 mediante el gol de Luna, a partir de allí el local tuvo muchas chances de aumentar la ventaja y terminar el partido con una goleada a favor.

Santa Fe con más carácter que fútbol logró causar peligro en los últimos minutos, remates en el travesaño y atajadas del portero Otero impidieron que el león se fuera del partido con el gol del honor. Con este resultado Patriotas subió a la octava posición, mientras que un Independiente Santa Fe con muchas dudas cayó a la décimo tercera posición.
