Según informa el diario Olé de Argentina, el sábado 2 de julio se llevó a cabo una reunión en un hotel de Buenos Aires donde estuvieron Victor Blanco (Presidente de Racing), Miguel Jiménez (vicepresidente del club) y Fernando López (representante de Roger). En dicha reunión el apoderado del colombiano presentó la otra oferta hecha por el club francés, Lyon, que mejora la oferta del jugador poniendo 6 millones de euros, más la suma de un porcentaje de una futura venta sobre la mesa del club argentino.

Sin embargo, a los máximos dirigentes de «La Academia» no les convence dicha cifra debido a que el jugador tiene una clausula de rescisión unilateral de 8 millones de euros netos, y la oferta de Lyon no iguala el precio de la clausula.

Además, los de Avellaneda quieren mejorar el contrato de Martínez quien hoy gana 76 mil pesos argentinos por mes (al rededor de 15 millones de pesos colombianos), aunque ese aumento es solo el 20 % de lo que le ofrece el equipo francés al jugador.

Los dirigentes de Racing dijeron que el lunes 4 de julio darían respuesta a esta oferta, pero lo que se especula es que sea negativa. Por otra parte, los máximos representantes de Lyon se contactaron con Lisandro López, capitán del equipo argentino que jugó en el club de Francia entre 2009 y 2014, para pedir referencias del cartagenero afuera de la cancha, puesto que dentro de ella, ya los sedució.
