El último encuentro de ida de los cuartos de final tenía que cerrar la jornada de buena manera, y afortunadamente así fue. En el partido más esperado de todos los de cuartos de final, disputado entre Junior y Millonarios en el Metropolitano Roberto Melendez, el conjunto de casa supo imponerse con autoridad y hacer ver mal a un equipo capitalino que cayó por de 2-0.

El segundo tiempo, si bien Millonarios salió con la idea de presionar más fuerte en el mediocampo, no tuvo resultado positivo y lo único que hizo fue hundirse más en su propia tragedia, mientras Vikonis seguía aguantando el resultado. Las oportunidades que tuvieron de llegar al arco de Viera se pueden contar con los dedos de una mano, ya que todo el tiempo tuvieron que ir cuesta arriba. Justamente de la mano, o mejor dicho, del pie del portero de Junior salió el segundo gol que definiría el partido: Tras una falta de Cadavid cerca de su propia área, Viera se tuvo confianza para ir a ejecutar el tiro libre, de tal manera que lo cobró de manera perfecta, mandando incrustar el balón en el ángulo superior izquierdo, dejando sin respuesta a Vikonis con un auténtico golazo. Esto lo ratificó como el hombre del partido.
