Tras conocerse el «plan limpieza» de Millonarios de cara a la próxima temporada, el diario AS Colombia decidió hablar con uno de los protagonistas de esta renovación de jugadores. Carlos Henao reveló las razones por las cuales lo llevaron a estar por fuera del club embajador en el año 2017.

«Cocca está buscando otros jugadores y por eso se estaba dando mi salida.  Al final el profesor no me dio más oportunidades, no era lo que yo esperaba pero toca seguir adelante y mirar a que equipo voy. Lastimosamente el equipo no quiso seguir contando conmigo».

El defensor fue cuestionado sobre paso en el club millonario, e hizo un balance en el que la conclusión más apropiada, fue la de quedar satisfecho con su año como jugador embajador.

«Creo que la virtud que tengo es la potencia en los tiros libres y en penales. La confianza que me dieron fue importante y cuando me dieron oportunidades las supe aprovechar. Me entregué en cada partido y pensaba que lo estaba haciendo bien, quería continuar pero a lo mejor no le gusté al técnico y él tomó la decisión de no tenerme en cuenta. Quedo contento porque pude hacer un buen año.»

También Henao fue interrogado por si se arrepiente de haber fichado por Millonarios, aunque fue muy concreto con su respuesta, aclaró que son decisiones desde la dirigencia y que lo único que podía era agradecer.

«No. Yo me voy muy contento. Es una gran institución donde me enseñaron mucho. El club me ayudó a crecer como futbolista. Son decisiones que toman los directivos y hay que respetarlas; en este caso no quisieron contar más con mis servicios pero me voy agradecido por lo que me dieron este año.»

El jugador de 28 años, a pesar de no tener muchas actuaciones con el equipo capitalino, reveló que su futuro posiblemente estaría fuera del ámbito colombiano, y que él era el que decidía en donde jugar en las próximas temporadas.

«Tengo mis derechos deportivos en la mano. Voy a esperar para ver con quién se puede negociar, me han llamado de algunos lados: México, Estados Unidos y Ecuador. Vamos a ver qué pasa.»
