INDEPENDIENTE SANTA FE NO PUDO CONSEGUIR LOS TRES PUNTOS FRENTE A ALIANZA, Y NO CONSIGUIÓ SU PASE A LOS OCHO.

Por la última fecha del «todos contra todos» de la Liga Águila, el equipo cardenal recibía a Alianza Petrolera con la obligación de sumar tres puntos ante su gente ya que peligraba su clasificación, pero el equipo de Barrancabermeja complicó el partido y terminó igualando el resultado, lo que significó su eliminación de los cuadrangulares finales del campeonato.

El primer tiempo del encuentro inició de manera favorable para el equipo local, pues en dos ocasiones Jonathan Gómez remató al arco contrario sin efectividad, pero en una jugada individual, el argentino pudo poner a su equipo adelante en el marcador, pues en el minuto catorce ya Santa Fe lograba su clasificación a los ocho.

Ya en el complemento del partido, Alianza Petrolera aprovechó  una falta de Juan Daniel Roa dentro del area, para que Carlos Lizarazo igualará el resultado luego de un potente disparo a la mano derecha de Leandro  Castellanos y así complicarle la vida a un Santa Fe, que con un empate quedaba eliminado de los cuadrangulares finales del  campeonato colombiano.

En seguida Gustavo Costas trató por medio de los cambios, adelantarse nuevamente en el marcador, pero las desprolijidades de un equipo que basaba su metodología ofensiva en pelotazos, concluyeron el resultado en un empate que dejaba al equipo cardenal, por fuera de los primeros ocho de la tabla de la Liga Águila.

A parte, Santa Fe no contó con suerte por parte de los otros resultados ya que otro de sus rivales directos ganó, pues Bucaramanga se impuso de local ante el América de Cali por la mínima diferencia, y logró los 29 puntos que lo posicionaban en la octava posición, lo que no ayudaba al Expreso Bogotáno ya que terminaba con 28 puntos y en la novena posición.

Así termina la semana de Santa Fe, en donde no pudo conseguir las primeras posiciones que significaban la clasificación en sus distintos torneos, pues entre semana no pudo lograr la victoria frente a The Strongest por la Copa Libertadores y se tuvo que conformar con una tercera posición que le daba el pase directo a la Copa Sudamericana.
