Luego de haber sido derrotada 2-0 por la selección de Chile, Colombia llega este sábado al estadio de la Universidad de Phoenix para enfrentarse con el anfitrión Estados Unidos que fue derrotado por los albicelestes 4-0.
El certamen termina este domingo 26 de Junio, pero mañana se enfrentaran Estados Unidos y Colombia por el tercer y cuarto lugar de la Copa América centenario, Estados Unidos viene de haber perdido en semifinales con un agónico 4-0 ante la selección de Argentina. El cuarto lugar no lo quiere ninguno de los dos, ni norteamericanos ni cafeteros, así que lucharan por lo menos por el ¨premio de consolación¨, Estados Unidos tiene la presión de seguir siendo aun el anfitrión del certamen y de ser el único país representante de los seis que participaron por parte de la Concacaf en haber llegado a instancias de semifinales. Estados Unidos llego a semis, a pesar de haber perdido el partido inaugural contra Colombia, pero goleo a Costa Rica y gano contra Paraguay, días después derroto a Ecuador, pero no les alcanzó con Argentina, pues los albicelestes fueron superiores todo el tiempo.
Mientras tanto Colombia, viene de un partido realmente eterno de más de dos horas en donde fue derrotada por el actual campeón de América en semifinales 2-0, aunque fue un partido bastante abierto, Colombia cometió errores que aprovecharon los australes a pocos minutos del primer tiempo. Los cafeteros iniciaron el certamen ganándole al anfitrión 2-0 en el Levi’s Stadium de Santa Clara, posteriormente derroto a Paraguay y ya clasificada perdió el primer lugar del grupo A, tras ser derrotada por Costa Rica, en cuartos de final eliminó a Perú tras una tanda de Penales que ganaron 4-2, fue así como llegaron a Nueva Jersey a enfrentar a Chile y perdieron su boleto a la final.
Ambos llegan a Phoenix para jugar su ultimo partidos del certamen, y salir del mismo con la cara en alto y representando de la mejor manera a sus países, Colombia no contara con Carlos Sánchez luego de ser expulsado en el partido contra Chile, mientras que Estados Unidos recupera a Alejandro Bedoya, Jermaine Jones y a Bobby Wood, que no jugaron contra Argentina por suspensión.
