EL EX SANTA FE Y AHORA EX NACIONAL, SERÁ EL OCTAVO JUGADOR COLOMBIANO QUE MILITARÁ EN EL HISTÓRICO CUADRO BRASILEÑO DEL PALMEIRAS.

Tras negociar durante varias semanas por ver cual era su futuro, finalmente ha sido uno de los más grandes equipos de Brasil, el Palmeiras, quienes se han quedado con la gran joya que tuvo un 2016 de ensueño, pasando de jugar en el Cortuluá, donde salió goleador, hasta ser el autor del tanto que le dio a Atlético Nacional su ansiada segunda Copa Libertadores.

El jugador, quien ha firmado, en principio, un acuerdo por 5 años, además de que el «Verdao» tendrá el 70% de su pase, valorado en unos 10.3 millones de dólares, beneficiando a Nacional y Santa Fe, entre otros de los clubes donde se pudo formar al artillero quien también milita en la Selección Colombia.

Por esto, en SDM queremos hacer un breve repaso de los otros jugadores colombianos que han tenido la oportunidad de jugar en el Palmeiras en su historia:

Fredy Rincón (1994 y 1996)

Una verdadera novela la que vivió el ex Santa Fe y América para vestirse la camiseta del Palmeiras. Se especuló con posibles traspasos a la Lazio y al propio Boca Juniors, pero siempre todo quedó con algún vacío. Aunque, a finales del año 1993, los empresarios de la empresa de lácteos Parmalat, principal patrocinador del cuadro brasileño, negociaron con América el fichaje de Rincón, el cual se terminó concretando en 3 millones de dólares.

En su primer año, disputó 28 encuentros y anotó 12 goles, compartiendo con jugadores históricos de Brasil, casos de Rivaldo, Edmundo, Flavio Conceicao, Cesar Sampaio, además de ser dirigidos por Vanderlei Luxemburgo, histórico por sus 5 títulos en Brasil y por su paso por el Real Madrid. Este fue el trampolín que lo impulsó a llegar a Europa, donde estaría en Napoli y Real Madrid antes de volver a Sudamérica.

En su regreso, en 1996, disputó 17 partidos e hizo 7 goles. Con este equipo salió campeón del Paulista y el Brasileirao de 1994.

Harold Lozano (1995)

Desafortundamente, el ex jugador del América tuvo un paso muy fugaz por el conjunto Paulista, debido a que llegó en 1995 procedente de los «Diablos Rojos», tras brillar en tierras caleñas y mostrar un buen nivel con la Selección Colombia. A pesar de esos avales con los que llegó, fueron pocos con los que se fue, debido a que duró 2 meses en la institución brasileña y luego fue vendido al América mexicano.

Faustino «Tino» Asprilla (1999-2000)

Tras su exitosa carrera en el Parma italiano y en el conjunto inglés del Newcastle, llegó el momento de regresar y lo hizo jugando para Palmeiras, donde llegó en 1999, disputando hasta el año 2000, disputando 51 encuentros y anotando 13 tantos, jugando además finales de Copa Libertadores y Copa Mercosur, donde no logró salir campeón. Consiguió la Copa Río-Sao Paulo y la Copa de Campeones de Brasil en el 2000.

León Darío Muñoz (2001-2005)

Un goleador antioqueño, cuya experiencia en Palmeiras fue buena, rindió y colaboró bastante al club en los momentos difíciles, debido a que en 2002, el «Verdao» descendió a la segunda categoría, pero el colombiano colaboró bastante con sus goles y ayudó al Palmeiras a volver al umbral de los grandes, saliendo campeón de la Serie B en 2003, posteriormente no fue demasiado protagonista y en 2005 se marcharía del equipo. Jugó 140 encuentros y anotó 32 goles.

Carlos Castro (2003)

Llegó en el 2003 proveniente del Necaxa mexicano. Tenía pinta y fue vendido al club brasileño como un goleador nato (tras ser goleador en Colombia en 2000 y 2001 con Millonarios) y que solucionaría los problemas ofensivos del club, aunque no fue así. Nunca llegó a debutar oficialmente con el equipo y además no logró generar empatía alguna con el entrenador Jair Picerni, quien tampoco lo metía nunca en las convocatorias.

Pablo Armero (2009-2010)

«Miñía» como se le conoce en Colombia, llegó en 2009, tras salir campeón con el América el año anterior. En Palmeiras se destacó y fue regular titular, ayudando a Palmeiras a tener buenas actuaciones y a brillar en competiciones internacionales, hecho que llamó la atención de clubes europeos y, efectivamente, tras estar hasta agosto de 2010, cuando el Udinese adquirió sus derechos. 79 partidos jugados y un gol ante el Náutico en 2009 por el Brasileirao fueron las cifras que dejó el lateral en su momento.

Yerry Mina (2016)

El último en enfundarse los colores del Palmeiras y que, además, será compañero para Borja en el 2017, se trata del zaguero Yerry «Guachené» Mina, quien llegó el 11 de mayo del año anterior al equipo, firmando por 5 campañas al igual que Borja, con quien ya había coincidido en Santa Fe y donde salieron varias veces campeones, especialmente de la Copa Sudamericana.

A su llegada, su nombre tuvo mayor popularidad en toda América e inclusive, sonó en varias partes del mundo, debutando con goles y jugando 15 encuentros con 4 goles, cifra nada despreciable para un central. Ha estado, según la prensa española y medios del continente americano como posible fichaje para el Barcelona en el siguiente año.
