A falta de un mes para jugar eliminatorias, así estan los colombianos en el exterior, pocos minutos en algunos y buenos rendimientos en otros.

Los dos últimos partido de la Selección Colombia por eliminatorias fueron el 10 y el 15 de noviembre de 2016. Empatando con Chile en Barranquilla y perdiendo 3-0 sobre Argentina.

El equipo de Pekerman volverá en el 2017 a jugar por las eliminatorias rumbo a Rusia 2018 el próximo 23 de Marzo ante Bolivia en condición de local y el 28 de marzo ante Ecuador en su visita a Quito. A falta de un mes para disputar dos partidos importantísimos en los cuales la Selección está obligada a ganar, el panorama en cuanto a sus futbolistas internacionales es irregular, algunos estan en un buen momento con sus clubes  y otros por su parte han tenido muy pocos minutos

El ultimo 11 que puso en cancha pekerman ante Argentina estuvo compuesto por: David Ospina, el arquero colombiano no ha tenido minutos en lo que va del año, esta ala espera del comienzo de la UCL en la que el Arsenal enfrenta a Bayern y donde el antioqueño es titular. En la defensa estuvieron: Santiago Arias, el lateral derecho es titular indiscutible con el PSV de Holanda y es uno de los jugadores que más minutos acumula en lo que va del 2017. Davinson Sanchez, el central del Ajax fue titular en su ultimo partido y poco a poco se consagra en la defensa de su club. Jeison Murillo, el central del Inter de Milán volvió a la titular luego de la llega al banco de Stefano Pioli a fin de año, el caleño es titular con los ‘neroazurris’ que acumulan 6 partidos seguidos sin conocer la derrota.

En el medio campo, los extranjeros de la ultima titular fueron: ‘La Roca’ Sanchez, quien es titular este comienzo de año con la Fiorentina pero en la posicion de defensa central, cumple a cabal su rol y ha tenido muy buenas presentaciones hasta llegando a lograr el triunfo ante el lider Juventus. Daniel Torres, el ex DIM, es titular con Alavés en la Liga Española, es un jugador clave en el esquema del tecnico Mauricio Pellegrino y Wilmar Barrios, La permanencia de Wilmar Barrios en Boca no está asegurada. El ex Deportes Tolima llegó al Xeneize en medio de una gran expectativa por su juego, pero no ha logrado cautivar a Guillermo Barros Schelotto para sumar más minutos en cancha.

En el frente de ataque, Colombia jugó con Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, el extremo de la Juventus no se ha caído de la titular en los dos últimos partidos, a pesar de ser siempre la primera alternativa de Allegri, el colombiano ha logrado tener la confianza del DT, Cuadrado ha jugado desde lateral hasta delantero. En este 2017 no estuvo en el primer partido del año, pero regresó ante la Fiorentina jugando como lateral ante la Lazio, Cuadrado volvió a su posición natural, volante extremo por la derecha y asistió a Higuaín para darle la victoria a la ‘Vecchia Signora’. Por otro lado está James Rodríguez, el volante del Real Madrid comenzó con pie derecho el 2017 anotando un doblete ante el Sevilla por el marco de la Copa del Rey, pero un lesión lo ha mantenido alejado de las convocatorias. El Real Madrid perdio dos partidos seguidos y el invicto de 40 partidos sin James en cancha y urge del colombiano a falta de alternativas en la creación de juego. Por ultimo, ante Argentina estuvo Radamel Falcao, el samario está en su mejor momento desde su lesión el 22 de enero de 2014,Falcao es capitan y titular indiscutible del Monaco que marcha lider de la Liga 1 de Francia. El ‘Tigre’ desde su regreso al principado ha jugado 20 encuentros en todas las competiciones que disputa el club, incluyendo Liga de Francia y Champions League. En esa cantidad de partidos ha anotado 17 goles.

Otros colombianos importantes en el proceso Pekerman son: Carlos Bacca, luego de tres meses regresó al gol. En este 2017 ya marcó en dos ocasiones ante el Cagliari y Torino, sin embargo sigue sin convencer a la hinchada rossoneri. La llegada de Deulofeu podría afectar al delantero colombiano que alterna la posicion con Lapadula. Yerry Mina, el central del Palmeiras sigue su proceso de recuperación y es una de las figuras de su club, el interés por el colombiano es latente de parte de Barcelona y por ahora no se descarta su arribo a España para el verano. Muriel, el delantero de la Sampdoria es titular en los partidos de su equipo, el papel del colombiano ha estado más ligado al desborde y la asistencia a gol. Edwin Cardona, el jugador colombiano ha sido objeto de críticas en México pues su nivel de rendimiento ha mermado considerablemente en el Monterrey, el volante no convence y no es de la total confianza de Antonio Mohamed, DT de los Rayos. Teófilo Gutiérrez, el delantero ya nos tiene acostumbrados a que cada mercado de pases haya una novela a su alrededor, después de su frustrada llegada al Junior, el barranquillero ratificó la confianza de su DT Paolo Montero con un golazo ante Talleres de córdoba en la pretemporada que juegan los ‘canallas’
