Así es el nuevo trofeo FIFA ‘The Best’

El próximo 9 de enero, los The Best FIFA Football Awards™ condecorarán a los futbolistas y entrenadores de élite de todo el planeta fútbol, y se necesitaba un trofeo apropiadamente simbólico y emblemático para representar las máximas distinciones individuales del deporte rey.

Por consiguiente, la FIFA encargó el diseño de un nuevo trofeo para honrar a los mejores. Dicho trofeo, con versiones idénticas para los futbolistas y técnicos tanto en categoría masculina como femenina, presenta una forma parecida a la del icónico Trofeo de la Copa Mundial; un homenaje a la tradición con un diseño contemporáneo y dinámico. El nuevo trofeo empezó a tomar forma después de que los bocetos de la artista croata Ana Barbic Katicic.

Encima del elegante cuerpo del trofeo figura el balón utilizado en la primera final de un Mundial, que disputaron Uruguay y Argentina en 1930. El diseño lo hizo realidad Adon Production AG, una empresa con sede a las afueras de Zúrich.

“El trofeo consta de cinco partes: la parte inferior, la base, una pieza de carbono sobre la base, el cuerpo y el balón”, explica Rover Schudel, director ejecutivo y presidente de Adon. “La máquina que da forma al balón es muy nueva. Produce piezas para la industria aeroespacial, así como para la Fórmula 1, y tiene una precisión de la 12.000ª parte de un milímetro”.

El balón que adorna la cúspide del trofeo, que mide 31 cm y pesa 6’4 kilos, tal vez sea su elemento más imponente; un homenaje idóneo al torneo inicial de la FIFA. “El balón en la parte superior del trofeo representa la historia del fútbol y también la historia de la FIFA”, indica a FIFA.com eI secretario general adjunto de fútbol de la FIFA, Zvonimir Boban. “Creo que es un modo de contar la historia precioso; demuestra respeto hacia las tradiciones futbolísticas, al tiempo que mantiene un aspecto moderno. Esto lo convierte en un trofeo puramente postmoderno”.

Los finalistas y la gala de entrega

Ya conocemos los nombres de los tres finalistas al Premio The Best al Jugador de la FIFA 2016.  Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi y Antoine Griezmann-son los finalistas de una lista inicial de 23 seleccionados por un grupo de expertos de la Comisión de Fútbol de la FIFA, que siguen en la carrera por el codiciado galardón tras un proceso de votación repartido uniformemente entre: los capitanes de las selecciones nacionales, los seleccionadores, representantes de la prensa y aficionados. El ganador será desvelado en la ceremonia que tendrá lugar en Zúrich el próximo 9 de enero.

El gran favorito para llevarse el premio a mejor jugador de 2016 es el portugués Cristiano Ronaldo, que ganó la Champions League con el Real Madrid y la Eurocopa con su selección.
La FIFA venia realizando su gala anual desde 1991, hasta que en 2010 se unió con «France Football»,  y se hacia el entrega del premio conocido como «FIFA World Player». Los premios «The Best» fueron creados en 2016 por la FIFA después de que la federación internacional y la revista francesa «France Football» pusieran fin a su cooperación para entregar el Balón de Oro tras seis años de colaboración.

La revista entregó en diciembre el prestigioso galardón dorado a Cristiano Ronaldo, mientras que la FIFA revelará el nombre de «The Best» durante la gala del lunes.
